manager, Total Lubrifiants
“ELF is committed to serving car and motorcycle manufacturers,
and wants to become the lubricant world’s technology benchmark.
Modernising its brand image will help in its plans to develop in
the worlds key growth zones, such as Eastern Europe, Asia and Brazil.
This new momentum is rooted in a culture of excellence. Motor-sports
competition mirrors our quest for performance and out thirst for
innovation. And no other test bench comes close. Thanks to motor
sports competition, ELF is building more and more technical bridges
between Formula 1 and passenger cars. For instance, energy saving
fluids (which ELF created) come straight from car racing. ELF enthusiastically
harnesses its innovating power for the challenges presented by its
partner carmakers and equipment manufacturers. In the automotive
fields, the key challenges are environmental. Carmakers are developing
original technical systems to keep up with increasingly stringent
regulations. Exhaust-gas treatment systems are one example.
Lubricants need to accommodate these regulatory constraints while
fulfilling their technical role under increasingly demanding operating
conditions. While keeping an eye on future technological developments
(hybrid engines and fuel cells, for instance). Our researchers are
active alongside carmakers, developing lubricants for today’s
after-treatment requirements.”
